ESPN announced early this afternoon that the trade for Jason Kidd has been approved. Kidd will suit up for the Mavericks Wednesday night for his first game.
Are you ecstatic, depressed, or indifferent? I’ll be covering several angles over the next week or so. For now, it’s enough to know that Jason Kidd is back at the helm in Big D.
Say your goodbyes to Devin Harris, DeSagana Diop, Trenton Hassell, and future first round draft picks which would keep this team alive 5 years from now.

Shaq’s first appearance as a Phoenix Sun may take place on Thursday against the Mavericks. Check ESPN.com for more details on the story.
According to Shaq, he’s in “great human shape… I’ve just got to get into basketball shape.” Shaq hasn’t played in a month and a half since his hip surgery, and is still rehabbing to get into competitive physical condition. Coach D’Antoni said it’s possible that Shaq will be ready to face the Mavs tomorrow. My guess is that they’ll wait until the Suns face the Lakers next week so Shaq’s big unveiling can be against Kobe (just when the Christmas Day rivalry had finally died! Sigh!).

There’s been two major trades effecting top Western Conference teams… and Jason Kidd has yet to leave New Jersey. Pau Gasol was traded to the LA Lakers in an apparent fire sale, and Shaq will join the Pheonix Suns (and probably immediately miss 24 games due to injury). The trades say a lot about the state of the Lakers and Suns.
