Marion vs. Julius, Part 10

by Anothony on November 26, 2008

It’s Turkey game time, which means one thing: Julius is back! The Seahawks come limping into Texas Stadium for Thursday’s Thanksgiving battle following Sunday’s home loss to the Redskins.

To say Julius Jones was a non-factor in that game would be doing non-factors a disservice. Jones was scheduled to start, but only received 2 carries for 21 yards, which were his only touches for the day. Jones seems to have fallen out of favor with outgoing coach Mike Holmgren, in what was supposed to be a “prove it” kind of season for him after winning the starting role to begin the season. Injuries and other factors have lessened the impact Julius has on the Seahawks offense to the point that he can barely get on the field now. Jones is hopeful he will have some kind of impact on Thursday’s game, but we’ll have to see if Holmgren gives him the opportunity.

Sorry, Terrell. If you want to gloat after a game, gloat after the Steelers game. A 200+ yard game is excellent by any standards, but you did so against a mediocre defense that didn’t jam you at the line.

Until you get jammed and still show us the goods, you’re just a diva who won’t dive or jump for balls. And though the refs didn’t see it, everyone else saw your shove that gave you enough room to catch one of your longer passes yesterday.

So congratulations. You helped the Cowboys win. But did you see what Randy Moss did yesterday? ’nuff said.

Marion vs. Julius, Part 9

by Anothony on November 24, 2008

The Cowboys and Seahawks both welcomed back their regular starting quarterbacks, with the hopes that the offenses would get back on track. One team did, the other, not so much.

Tony Romo‘s return to Cowboys allowed Marion Barber to be more of a threat running the ball and did it ever show. Barber finished the game with 114 yards on 24 carries with 1 touchdown and added 39 yards on 6 receptions. Barber’s running was crucial late in the game against the Redskins as he was able to lead the way in grinding out the clock for a 14-10 victory in Washington.

Winning Streak!!!

by WillDavis on November 21, 2008

Dallas (4-7) 96 at Houston (7-4) 86

Yes, 3 wins in a row is a winning streak. Although the first two may have seemed like gimmes against the Knicks and Bobcats, Dallas traveled to Houston and beat the best team defense on their own court. Sure the Rockets were without Yao Ming and have an ailing Ron Artest and Tracy McGrady (of course) but a win is a win. And a streak is a streak. And like Kevin Costner said in Bull Durham ‘You don’t f*** with a winning streak.’

Mavs Win Two in a Row

by WillDavis on November 20, 2008

Dallas (3-7) 100 at Charlotte (3-6) 83

The Mavericks won their second game in a row by overwhelming advantage of talent emphasised by the Bobcats being without Jason Richardson (day-to-day with an ankle injury). Charlotte, without an inside presense, was dominated inside losing the rebounding battle 50 to 34. Erick Dampier played less than 20 mins still pulled down 11 rebounds and had 3 blocks, while Josh Howard put up 21 pts in wonderful play within 17 feet. In a game that Dallas never trailed they were able to manage the tempo well except for one blemish – 17 turnovers. Luckily Charlotte couldn’t advantage and the Mavs coasted to a win.

Jerry Stackhouse Wants Out

by David on November 18, 2008

Jerry Stackhouse is reportedly talking to his agent about “exploring options” – either getting traded or bought out by the Mavericks. He’s not happy with his inactive status, and says he has too much good basketball left in him. In other words, the Mavericks coaching staff doesn’t know what they’re doing, and they’ve made a mistake by sidelining someone of his talent and ability.

Marion vs. Julius, Part 8

by Anothony on November 17, 2008

Not much happened this week, as has been the case for much of the season with these two. The Cowboys and Marion Barber had a much needed bye week while the Seahawks, as predicted in this very space last week, fell to the Dolphins.
