Roy Williams got a little bit of revenge on rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant Monday night.

$54,896 worth of revenge.

Bryant, as we all remember, refused to carry Williams’ pads during training camp, claiming he didn’t know about the tradition.

"I’m not doing it," Bryant said at the time. "I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player’s pads."

Bryant offered to take the offensive players to Pappas Bros. Steakhouse Monday night, but Williams also invited the defensive players to the dinner.

Several players, including Miles Austin, Jesse Holley, Felix Jones and Bryant himself tweeted about the experience.

I’ve been celebrating quietly on the inside ever since Dez Bryant pushed through to gain a few extra yards after a catch. I felt the momentum shift, and the Cowboys dug in their heels to push for the W.

But the shekinah glory has faded just enough since then for me to reconsider what REALLY happened, and ask myself whether it was really a Dallas win or a Houston loss.

Rather than quote you legitimate stats, let’s go to the Fantasy Line:

We’re only in Week 3, but Michael Vick is playing out of his mind. He’s played two and a half games, but Vick is in the top 10-12 for passing yards in the NFL with 750. He’s leading Carson Palmer, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Matt Hasselbeck, Brett Favre, Mark Sanchez and a host of others.

The good news after all the NFC East teams played this week is that Dallas isn’t that far from the lead despite their 2-0 start. The bad news is that with Vick at the helm, the Eagles are showing no signs of letting up.

The first quarter of today’s game is in the books. It’s scoreless at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. Cowboys have yet to convert after two possessions. But perhaps more concerning is that Dallas has gone for it twice on fourth down already. On the first fourth down, Felix Jones dove for the one yard gain and the first down.

On the second fourth down, Romo threw an incomplete pass but was rewarded with a first down on a defensive holding penalty on Houston.

Despite two fourth down “conversions”, Dallas punted it away both possessions and Houston has marched down the field with ease.

McNabb: NFC East Game Changer

by SteveHartline on September 25, 2010

Donovan McNabbDonovan McNabb has a new lease on life with the Washington Redskins after Andy Reid and the Eagles dealt him away ‘within the division’.  Does that move make sense? Only time will tell, but currently it seems to be just what Donovan needed: a clean break from the Eagles and he now plays for a coach that loves quarterbacks for what they are, not what he wants to make them.

The decision though has proven to be a blunder on the Eagles part in terms of what can now be classified in epic proportions.

Please chime in: Is Andy Reid of the Philadelphia Eagles bona fide insane or does he just hate Donovan McNabb?

The question would be easily answered if you were to candidly ask either him or McNabb, but both have and will continue to artfully dodge such hot topic questions: they have moved on, but for the record I would like a straight answer. It is left for us on the outside to determine.

Your Dallas Cowboys will be at a crossroads when they take the field in the hornet’s nest known as Reliant Stadium Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Entering the game with an 0-2 record, losing what were thought to be two of the more winnable games on the schedule, the Cowboys are at a critical point of their season just three weeks into it.

A loss here, and the Cowboys enter their bye week with more questions than they had entering the season. A win potentially begins to set things in the right direction with a much more relaxed bye week than it would be after a loss.

Do not feed the Bears

Watch Out NFL, The Bears are Too Legit 2 Quit.

While I am a Cowboy fan down to the marrow in my bones, I need to state for the record (and admit my perverse excitement at watching the Cowboys lose in this instance) my perceptions about the Chicago Bears. While most of us in Texas are lamenting the lackluster performance of the on-field Cowboys, I think some love should be given to Chicago.
