Don’t believe the lie. Kobe Bryant wasn’t dishing out compliments to the Mavericks as some sort of clever ploy. He was being straight up honest.
“No question,” Kobe said Saturday when asked by our girl Gina Miller whether the trade moves the Mavs to the Lakers’ level. “I hate to say it, but it’s true. … Trust me, I don’t like it by any stretch of the imagination. But it’s a great move by (Dallas). It pains me to say it. But you guys made two great pickups.”

f you ask ESPN Radio, the official word is that Michael Irvin’s contract expired this week. According to Dallas Morning News columnist Barry Horn, Irvin’s radio show contract expired January 10th, 2010. The show was two years old.
Irvin’s show continued an extra month (a little bizarre) and just happened to be officially canceled following the press release that Irvin has been accused of rape. It’s apparently a two year old charge, but one which, nonetheless, will garner a lot of attention during Super Bowl Weekend.
Earlier today, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com posited a scenario in which Jason Garrett could make a power play for Wade’s job. I’ve heard no one else in the traditional media talking about this possibility, but let’s look at it just in case.
Prior to Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, Brett Favre gave his word that he’d sing the R&B hit “Pants on the Ground” after the game if the Vikings won. Check out the video on this page.
So while you were crying in your beer (or in my case, my green tea), Favre was getting his groove on… sort of.
So here you are, disappointed and in shock. After hearing the entire country jump on the Cowboys bandwagon last week, you began to believe, not just hope. You may not have said it, but you expected to see your team in the Super Bowl. You planned on savoring three more weeks of glory. And then the unthinkable happened, and you watched an old man rise to the challenge as your team went down in flames.
After Dallas traded Stack to Memphis, the Grizzlies bought out the remainder of his contract leaving him a free agent. After Milwaukee Bucks star Michael Redd suffered an injury against the Lakers, they contacted Stackhouse ASAP. Stackhouse is expected to ink a short-term deal with the Bucks later today.
Best of luck to Stack. He was a tremendous off-the-bench strength before the injuries began cropping up. We wish him well.

When Dirk dropped his 20,000th point this week against the Lakers, the crowd rose to their feet and cheered. Once on the bench for a timeout, Dirk stood up and applauded the crowd and thanked them for their support. It was a sentimental moment.
Dallas loves its big German. No doubt. But in the end, do we REALLY care about his personal achievements? The Mavericks lost the game in embarrassing fashion as Dirk and several other players wasted 10+ seconds passing the ball when they needed a three pointer to tie.
