Dallas Cowboys

With four touchdowns in his last three games, Laurent Robinson is tied for second on the Cowboys. He has also already set a career best with 441 yards, good for third on the team. His 27 catches are approaching a career high and are fourth on the Cowboys.

“It’s all about opportunity,” Robinson said Wednesday. “You’ve got to be patient and wait for your turn. My turn, I guess, is now. I’m just comfortable in the offense,” Robinson said. “I’m playing fast, not thinking too much, just going out there and playing confident.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones cannot let a good thing go. After seeing rookie DeMarco Murray tear up the Buffalo Bills for 135 yards on 20 carries Jones made this comment:

“I told Felix after the game, ‘Boy, am I anxious to see them both in there together.’ I know we have a coach that knows how to figure on having them both in there at the same time.”

Clearly, Jones envisions a backfield where two players share the load. Maybe even three, to hear the owner talk.

Cowboys Romp Against Buffalo

by David on November 14, 2011

Now that is the sort of offensive explosion that I have been looking for.

Finally healthy, Tony Romo provided Cowboy fans with the type of game we have been waiting for all season as he three touchdown passes, two of them to wide receiver Laurent Robinson, as the Cowboys built a 21-0 advantage early in the second quarter. Romo finished the day with 270 yards while connecting on 23 of 26 throws to set a single-game team record for passing accuracy, at 88.5%.

To complement the arial attack rookie tailbackDeMarco Murray ran for 135 yards on 20 carries and added a 1-yard touchdown run on the Cowboys’ fourth drive.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said he was “hopeful” that running back Felix Jones would be able to play this week after missing the the last three games due to a high left ankle sprain.

“We’re certainly hopeful,” Garrett said. “He had a good workout today. He’s going to have another workout tomorrow and we’ll see how he feels on Wednesday. Felix has been a very good player for us, a dynamic player, made a lot of big plays both in the running game and in the passing game since he’s been here. So there’s going to be a role for Felix Jones coming back. We like to get him the football as well.”

Miles Austin Out For “Weeks”

by David on November 8, 2011

Earlier reports today say that Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin is expected to miss two to four weeks with his latest hamstring strain. Considering that Austin has already missed two games this year with the same injury that timeline might be a little optimistic. The Cowboys need to figure out why Austin keeps injuring his hamstring and get him on a program to strengthen them as this problem has been going on for too long and it has to be impacting his ability to explode off the line of scrimmage or go all out for passes.

In todays Cowboys v Seahawks game, Anthony Spencer made an amazing play to block a Seahawks field goal attempt.

Usually when a player attempts to jump over other playwrs he usually ends up leaping on the back of a teammate or defender, something that brings a flag.

Spencer however shows great athleticism to make an amazing play

The good news is that the Cowboys 4-4) bounced back from a terrible performance in Philadelphia to end a run of three losses in four games. With three of their next games against teams with losing records, the Cowboys have the potential of building some momentum before the two pivotal games against the division-leading Giants.

The bad news is that the Cowboys red zone offense continues to struggle. Against the Seahawks Dallas had to settle twice for field goals after drives stalled inside the Seahawks five yard line, while another Dallas drive saw them lose a fumble inside the 1. Six points from three trips inside the opponents five yard line is not efficiency.

Dallas Cowboys legend Drew Pearson was on ESPN 103.1 in Dallas Friday afternoon and he did not hold back in his criticism of Cowboys’ head coach Jason Garrett as well as wide receivers Miles Austin and Dez Bryant.

Pearson went to great lengths to critique the lack of progress in both wide receivers and stated that most defensive backs probably don’t even view Dez Bryant as a threat anymore, because he is so limited in what routes he can run.

The Dallas Cowboys starting running back Felix Jones will miss his third consecutive game this weekend, while linebacker Sean Lee is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

Jones has a high left ankle sprain and had a walking boot taken off his foot last week, but he has yet to start running. DeMarco Murray will start in his place.

Lee has a dislocated left wrist. Though he’s not expected to play, Lee was fitted for a hard cast, but the swelling in the wrist has not subsided enough to allow him to practice. Keith Brooking will in all likelihood replace Lee in the starting lineup.

DeMarcus Ware has an opportunity this weekend against the Seattle Seahawks to become the Cowboys’s all-time leader in sacks. Ware currently has 92 sacks as a Cowboy and has a chance to smash Jim Jeffcoat’s franchise record of 94.5 sacks before his career is over.

Ware talked with Josh Ellis of DallasCowboys.com about nearing the record, to which the linebacker responded:

“As a pass rusher you’re always aware of [how many sacks you have]. But you just don’t talk about it. You get out there and keep working, and the end of the season you just hope you’re where you need to be.”
