It was announced today that Colby Lewis has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The right-handed pitcher started on the mound for the Rangers opening game, but a torn flexor tendon in his elbow means that he will require surgery. It is his pitching arm that is injured, meaning a lot of rehabilitation will need to take place before he starts pitching again to prevent further injury.
The 33-year-old recorded a .500 record of 6-6 in his 12 starts throughout the season. He gave up an ERA of 3.43 and racked up 93 strikeouts in the process. It could take 9-12 months before Lewis will be back in action with the Rangers.
