Where’s the Post about the Cowboys’ Humiliating Loss?

December 29, 2008 by Daniel Dessinger · Leave a Comment

Do you REALLY need to read ANOTHER article about how humiliating the game was? Exactly. No one needs to be bitchslapped more than a handful of times before it gets really old. The new stadium IS gorgeous, though, even if it’s greatest accomplishment is as the metroplex’s largest paperweight.

Unless something happens behind the scenes, you’ll see the same coaching staff and same players next year. The Cowboys will give it another go. Maybe if Romo stays healthy the entire season, the Cowboys will have a good enough regular season record to afford them another spot in the playoffs despite how they perform in December. Then again, if something on this team doesn’t improve, a visit to round one of the playoffs will prove to be worthless anyway.

Merry Christmas Wade! Don’t Waste It

Wade Phillips and his Dallas Cowboys woke to a week of holiday hope. With Tampa Bay and Philadelphia both losing their games over the weekend, Dallas has a clear opportunity to squeak into the playoffs. The road leads through Philly, and an absolute must-win season finale.

The Eagles have a candle of hope, but theirs is a much more unlikely scenario. Not only does McNabb have to defeat Dallas, but every team ahead of them must lose as well. It’s a much less likely scenario. I’ll be interested to see which team comes out more motivated this coming Sunday.

Cows Lose! Cows Lose!

That which we had feared but didn’t expect is upon us. Our beloved Cowboys are all but guaranteed to miss the playoffs. Good thing owner Jerry Jones specifically requested the Baltimore Ravens as the Cowboys’ final opponent in Texas Stadium. At the time of his request, Baltimore seemed like an easy win. Oops.

Baltimore fed off this knowledge the entire game, wanting to show up the presumptuous Cowboys on their last night in the stadium. And as Matt Mosley mentioned on ESPN.com, Baltimore fans got to see once again how fortunate they were to not get the head coach they originally wanted (Jason Garrett).

Dallas’ Season on the Line Against Giants

December 14, 2008 by Daniel Dessinger · Leave a Comment

With 10:46 remaining in the 1st Quarter, Dallas desperately needs to pick up the pace. The season is on the line here. With Atlanta’s win over Tampa Bay this afternoon, Romo and the Cowboys have to win to stay in the Wildcard hunt. Tampa Bay and Atlanta are currently in the two NFC Wildcard slots based on win-loss record. Dallas could tie both with a win tonight.

Neither offense has shown any sparks of brilliance early in the game. Stay tuned for a Half-time update. You’ll be able to read my take on the 1st Half right here on this post.

With the third quarter winding down, Dallas leads New York 7-3. It has been a battle of the defenses. Eli Manning has been sacked seven times already in the game. Romo has been rushed and hurried and continues his post injury pattern of downfield overthrows.

Just about every receiver on the team has touched the ball, as Romo judiciously spreads the love around. The Cowboys look to win this game if they can keep the momentum and avoid turnovers.

Marion vs. Julius, Part 11

December 3, 2008 by Anthony · Leave a Comment

The final Thanksgiving day game at Texas Stadium came and went without much in the way of drama or controversy. That’s what happens whena team as talented as the Cowboys, who appear to finally be hitting their stride, takes on a sad-sack outfit like the Seattle Seahawks.

I was confused as to why Cowboy fans felt the need to boo Julius Jones. Yeah, he may have had some words as he walked out the door, but did he really say or do anything while he was here to justify booing the man? I don’t think so.

Marion vs. Julius, Part 10

November 26, 2008 by Anthony · Leave a Comment

It’s Turkey game time, which means one thing: Julius is back! The Seahawks come limping into Texas Stadium for Thursday’s Thanksgiving battle following Sunday’s home loss to the Redskins.

To say Julius Jones was a non-factor in that game would be doing non-factors a disservice. Jones was scheduled to start, but only received 2 carries for 21 yards, which were his only touches for the day. Jones seems to have fallen out of favor with outgoing coach Mike Holmgren, in what was supposed to be a “prove it” kind of season for him after winning the starting role to begin the season. Injuries and other factors have lessened the impact Julius has on the Seahawks offense to the point that he can barely get on the field now. Jones is hopeful he will have some kind of impact on Thursday’s game, but we’ll have to see if Holmgren gives him the opportunity.

Terrell Owens is a Superstar… Against Bad Teams

November 24, 2008 by Daniel Dessinger · Leave a Comment

Sorry, Terrell. If you want to gloat after a game, gloat after the Steelers game. A 200+ yard game is excellent by any standards, but you did so against a mediocre defense that didn’t jam you at the line.

Until you get jammed and still show us the goods, you’re just a diva who won’t dive or jump for balls. And though the refs didn’t see it, everyone else saw your shove that gave you enough room to catch one of your longer passes yesterday.

So congratulations. You helped the Cowboys win. But did you see what Randy Moss did yesterday? ’nuff said.

Marion vs. Julius, Part 9

November 24, 2008 by Anthony · Leave a Comment

The Cowboys and Seahawks both welcomed back their regular starting quarterbacks, with the hopes that the offenses would get back on track. One team did, the other, not so much.

Tony Romo’s return to Cowboys allowed Marion Barber to be more of a threat running the ball and did it ever show. Barber finished the game with 114 yards on 24 carries with 1 touchdown and added 39 yards on 6 receptions. Barber’s running was crucial late in the game against the Redskins as he was able to lead the way in grinding out the clock for a 14-10 victory in Washington.
