It’s okay to post your title and first paragraph, and then send them over to DallasProSports.com to finish the story. That way your friends and existing community don’t miss out on your content, but DallasProSports.com gets visit and doesn’t compete with your personal site for search engine rankings.
Google typically has to determine which site originated content, because it has to determine which version to rank higher in search results. DallasProSports.com doesn’t want content that is duplicated out on the Web because we’ll potentially get penalized for not being the original source.
This isn’t true for snippets or quotes, but for entire posts that are duplicates.
Most bloggers only put the first paragraph on their home page anyway, then provide a “continue reading” link that takes the reader from the home page to the individual post page to finish reading the post.
