Controlled demolition has begun to bring down what’s left of Reunion Arena in Dallas. Crews on Tuesday began the final demolition process, on the roof and columns, of the former home to the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and the NHL’s Dallas Stars.

The Dallas City Council in February approved a more than $2 million contract with A&R Demolition to level the outdated sports and entertainment venue, which opened in 1980.

Reunion Arena in June 2008 hosted its last event, a Spanish-language religious service. The Mavericks and the Stars now play at the high-tech American Airlines Center.

I say good riddance. The new arena is so far superior that I don't mind it being demolished at all.
