Games to Watch in Week 6

by DanielDessinger on October 14, 2009

We keep it very selective in our Games to Watch selection. If you’re like me, you get in one, maybe two games. So we limit our picks to three games to watch each week (which really turns into two picks per week because the Cowboys always get the other pick).

This week, the Cowboys have a bye, so we’re getting a whole three unbiased picks. Let’s get into it.

Giants at Saints

This is a given. EVERYONE will be watching this game. Two undefeated NFC teams square off. Eli versus Drew. Who will overcome? I want to see the Saints kill NYG, but I have this feeling that New York comes in and guys like Tuck and Umenyiora get the right combination of hurries and sacks. If New Orleans plays it right, they’ll keep a back in the wing for the quick dump off pass in case Brees gets in trouble often.

This game could honestly go either way. The Cowboys should have beaten the Giants, so they’re definitely NOT unbeatable, but they have a mental toughness that I think is unmatched right now in the NFL. I take the Giants by at least 3.

Ravens at Vikings

After three weeks, we were all hailing the Ravens as the best team in the league. They have since come back down to earth and have struggled offensively. If they can manage to regain that ground, the Ravens will be almost impossible to beat. But I’m giving the edge to Minnesota, Adrian Peterson, and Bret Favre. Minnesota by 3 at home.

If the Vikings win this one, they’ll have defeated one of the only elite AFC teams and remain one of only two undefeated NFC teams (along with either the Giants or the Saints). Big time game despite the cross conference play.

Bears at Falcons

While most people’s #3 game will be Denver and San Diego, I think SD is a wash this year. I’m going with Bears at Falcons. The Falcons are a better, more complete team, but they’ve slid a little lately. Cutler vs Ryan is probably a toss up, but the edge in rushing AND receiving has to go to Atlanta. This is the battle of the 3-1′s, a.k.a. the 2nd tier of the NFC, so it’s a significant game for the conference.

I like Atlanta more as a team, so I’m glad to be able to pick them by 6 at home. I’m a Cutler fan, but I still hates me some Bears. It’s more of an old-school hate that is wearing off quickly, but Chicago needs at least one decent receiver before I’m willing to consider them a major player in the NFC. Knox is making significant strides lately, and I picked him up for my fantasy team, so I have hopes that they can turn that passing game permanently around.
