Two games ago, Dallas Cowboy fans were treated to the coming out party of Miles Austin. Which then made him the talk of the bye week. Then last week he had another impressive performance against Atlanta, this time in front of the home crowd.
This emergence of a true speed receiver has given the Cowboys a true deep threat, that we have haven’t seen since the days of Joey Galloway. This new found weapon looks to open the passing game up and also help the healthy stable of running backs.
It only seems fitting that our new weapon has followed the same path as our last hidden gem, Tony Romo and Miles Austin are both undrafted players, who had to earn their playing time and fight for a starting spot. Now these two “walk-ons” are the driving force behind the cowboys offense.
While we’re only two games deep into the “Austin era”, Cowboy fans now hope for a day where we can cheer the 75 yard touchdown pass again. Miles Austin is someone everybody can root for. He has shown the NFL that you don’t have to hail from a prime time college to earn your way onto a team.
So for every fan, from the suites all the way up to the nose bleeds, their new favorite player will be Miles Austin. But the one question that we all want to know, will not be answered until later. Will Austin be a Hall of Famer, or just another flash in the pan? Only time will tell.

What's really amazing is that Miles Austin has been there now for four seasons…. glad to see him finally showing everyone how great a receiver he is.
I wonder if it's because I'm conditioned by Twitter and instant gratification via the Web, but I'm really excited about Kevin Ogletree. I think he has the potential to make a solid #2 receiver. Would love to see him get some playing time beside Miles Austin, but I know that only an injury or two would make that happen.
Sigh. I wish for the day when salary doesn't determine who plays and who sits.
michi stated “What's really amazing is that Miles Austin has been there now for four seasons”. That to me is a most indicative statement of the Dallas Cowboys. Look at some of the successful organizations out there, and they seem to be experts at evaluating and maximizing talent. True, it may have taken a couple of years to develop him elsewhere, but sadly like DanielthePoet scribes “I'm really excited about Kevin Ogletree…Would love to see him get some playing time” we may have another gem in the rough that we may never know about.
Just to think of an Austin/Ogletree recieving corps makes me tingle with excitement. Hopefully it will happen. but probably not this year.
Would love to see this combo as well. Would only happen with injuries, and we really don't want to see that happen.
