Cowboys CB Adam Jones has been suspended at least 4 games without pay.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will determine the final length of the suspension following the Cowboys’ November 16th game against the Redskins.
According to NFL.com, the decision on whether Jones can return to play will be based on his strict compliance with his NFL and Dallas Cowboys treatment plans as well as on evaluations of his progress that will be provided to Goodell by clinical experts retained by the NFL.
Jones was involved in an incident last week at the Joule Hotel in downtown Dallas were he got into a scuffle with one of his team-appointed bodyguards, which prompted a call to police.
As a result of the suspension, the Cowboys will receive the Tennessee Titans’ 5th round pick in next year’s draft.

I didn’t realize a draft choice came back to Dallas? Was this in the contract?
It was part of the original trade. The Cowboys sent a 4th-rounder to the Titans in last year’s draft in exchange for Pacman.
There were several scenarios in place as far as future draft picks were concerned:
- If Pcman is available or on injured reserve for 16 games in 2008, the Titans will also get a 6th round pick from the Cowboys in 2009. Jones doesn’t have to play in the games; he just can’t be suspended.
- If Pacman isn’t reinstated, the Titans will send a fourth-round draft pick back to the Cowboys in 2009.
- If Pacman is reinstated and suspended again for another matter, the Titans will send a fifth-round pick to the Cowboys in 2009.
