It was a tense night in Lambeau Field for Cowboys fans until early in the 4th quarter when a 50+ yard touchdown throw to Miles Austin put Dallas out of reach. The score was then padded by more than two touchdowns, but that’s what it took to put Cowboys fans at ease after a sub par performance from Tony Romo and the complete disappearance of Terrell Owens.
Marion Barber led the way with more than 140 yards rushing, leading all running backs in yards rushed for the week. Felix Jones contributed one major burst and a couple first downs as well. But it was Miles Austin, with 100+ yards receiving that drew most of the attention tonight.
Dallas’ defense kept good pressure on Aaron Rogers for most of the game. Greg Jennings had a stellar first half, but second half adjustments eventually helped the Cowboys to hold him at bay. Donald Driver was practically non-existant, and Ryan Grant was obviously not at 100% rushing the ball for Green Bay. Despite a handful of first down explosions in the first half, Grant was not a major factor.
Then there was Romo. God love him, he couldn’t figure out to throw away the ball before he was nearly sacked. Tony threw one interception and fumbled the ball once. He threw several dead balls for penalties due to poor timing and selection. For most of the game, Romo just wasn’t great. His 200+ yards passing would argue otherwise, but Romo is the type of player that has the opportunity to pass for 300 or more every game. He has that kind of offensive weapons at his disposal, and simply made some bad throws tonight.
Patrick Crayton was nearly invisible, and he and T.O. both dropped easy passes that cost Dallas in the short term. But the combo of Jason Witten, Miles Austin, and Marion Barber was enough to give Dallas the win.
On a side note, Terrell Owens looked intensely moody for most of the second half, likely because he (AGAIN) was cocky and made arrogant public statements in front of the camera which he couldn’t back up on the field. Take a hint, Terrell. Keep your mouth shut and put up the numbers. No one likes a showboat with no show.
Congrats to the Cowboys as they match the Giants at 3-0 for the season and head back to Dallas to face the Washington Redskins next Sunday.

The most welcome thing about the game against the Packers: no false start penalties from Flozell Adams. I had to go back to the stat sheet to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating.
I hadn’t even noticed, but you’re right. The lack of false starts on Flo is amazing.
