Should You Care About the Texas Rangers?

by DanielDessinger on June 5, 2009

This is my question to all of you. Should you care? Just like every other Dallas area team, the Rangers hit an early streak and show promising signs of potential greatness. But the inconsistencies continue to mount, and each starting pitcher has the potential to devastate your hopes and dreams for this team. There are no sure wins. Things are going well, but it’s a delicate balance. One misstep and this team could plummet.

Granted, Rangers are in a seriously sub par division. That may be their saving grace and opportunity at slipping in to the playoffs. Maybe Nolan Ryan and Mike Maddox have made a significant impact on this ball club. Maybe the pitchers are getting tougher both mentally and physically. Maybe the hitters are responding to new hope. But should I care?

Are possible stars worth investing our time and energy into caring for this team? Should those of us who haven’t tracked major league baseball for more than a decade suddenly care about this team? Why or why not?
