McNabb: NFC East Game Changer

by SteveHartline on September 25, 2010

Donovan McNabbDonovan McNabb has a new lease on life with the Washington Redskins after Andy Reid and the Eagles dealt him away ‘within the division’.  Does that move make sense? Only time will tell, but currently it seems to be just what Donovan needed: a clean break from the Eagles and he now plays for a coach that loves quarterbacks for what they are, not what he wants to make them.

The decision though has proven to be a blunder on the Eagles part in terms of what can now be classified in epic proportions.

The Cowboys and Eagles are ready to face off for the first time this season. We’re two days away from the big NFC East matchup, and it’s time to get a fresh perspective on the game.

Today we’re going behind enemy lines to talk with Philadelphia Eagles blogger Scott Tunstall. Scott is the Lead Blogger for InsidetheIggles.com, one of the premiere Eagles fan sites and part of the FanSided.com Sports Network.

Let’s get started.

I listened to Wade Philips talk Wednesday about practice, and his comments only reaffirmed my supposition; both teams are evenly matched on paper. Add to that both are playing well in all three aspects of the game (O-fence, defense, special teams). These elements have been discussed in detail by the excellent michi blog, so instead of rehashing what was said there, let’s focus on what I think is the key element of victory.

Don’t get too confident with your fantasy picks just yet. We asked our panel of experts which QBs in the league were most likely to disappoint this year. Check out what they said. We won’t tell anyone where you get your info. ;)

martellus-bennett Donovan McNabb No question McNabb can be great, especially against the Cowboys, but he can also be very inconsistent. McNabb can be a risky fantasy player, for me last year when I benched him, he was great and when I played him, he wouldn’t live up to expectations. Remember Last year he was benched for Kevin Kolb, now with Vick as back up, you never know how long Mcnabb will be a starter.

In a press conference earlier this morning, Eagles coach Andy Reid made two statements that together don’t make sense. First off, when questioned about what position Michael Vick will play, Andy Reid carefully stated, “Mike is a quarterback. He’s always been a quarterback.” Okay, so he’s a quarterback. Check. So will he be Philly’s backup to Donovan McNabb?

Reid’s answer? No. “Kevin Kolb is still our #2 quarterback.” Do what? You paid Michael Vick $1 million plus to play 3rd string?
