NFL Live talks Tony Romo and how the public perceives him. Chris Carter praises Tony, but is realistic. He acknowledges that Tony will make mistakes late in the game trying to make things happen.

But the question remains: is Tony Romo good enough to win a Super Bowl? Can he be a top quarterback in the league?

Chris Carter, rather than answering yes or no, wisely focuses on who Romo has to beat. It’s not that Romo isn’t a great quarterback. It’s that there are too many better quarterbacks ahead of him.

If you ask ESPN Radio, the official word is that Michael Irvin’s contract expired this week. According to Dallas Morning News columnist Barry Horn, Irvin’s radio show contract expired January 10th, 2010. The show was two years old.

Irvin’s show continued an extra month (a little bizarre) and just happened to be officially canceled following the press release that Irvin has been accused of rape. It’s apparently a two year old charge, but one which, nonetheless, will garner a lot of attention during Super Bowl Weekend.

Listen to Keith Brooking talk this week about his transition to Dallas and the growth of this Cowboys’ defense. He also shares his thoughts on Adrian Peterson, Brett Favre, and this tough Minnesota Vikings challenge.

Catch Miles Austin’s thoughts on Romo, Brooking, and his own success this year.

philip-rivers

I’ve heard some radio personalities this week say that Philip Rivers is playing like the best NFL quarterback in the league right now. Let’s just stop right there and call BS. I don’t care what he’s done lately. He hasn’t done what Peyton or Brees have done this year.

But let’s give Rivers his due. His team is 9-3. That’s the record we hoped the Cowboys would have going into this week’s matchup.

Brett The Evil One Favre

If you haven’t seen it, read about it or been made aware of it yet, on Monday night ESPN preseason football QB Brett Favre of the Minnesota Vikings made an illegal ‘crackback block’ on Houston Texans safety Eugene Wilson. It was an obvious penalty and Favre was flagged for it. He probably will be fined by the NFL. There seem to be no significant or even minor injuries as a result, and the game concluded. It pretty much ought to be a non-story as far as I am concerned.

Matt MosleyWhere did Matt Mosley come from, all of a sudden? I’ve been listening to ESPN radio religiously for more than a year, and I can tell you that someone is suddenly pushing Mosley onto the public in a major way. You’d think he was a superhero, the way his name pops up everywhere, all of a sudden. Perhaps it was just the coinciding of his transition from the Dallas Morning News to ESPN, but whatever it was, the entire ESPN network apparently drank the Mosley Kool-Aid.
