You are going to be a Jesse Holley fan after watching this clip. You’ll be surprised what you didn’t know about Jesse’s childhood background and the number of letdowns throughout his football career.

I’m pumped and ready for another game!

I sat in a local wing restaurant last night, watching the most unbelievable comedy of errors in recent memory. Missed snap after missed snap. Dropped pass after dropped pass.running backs stopped behind the line of scrimmage. Wide receivers running wrong routes. A banged up Tony Romo managed to avoid a potentially catastrophic meltdown.

Tony’s an even keeled guy. Maybe too much so. Not last night. You could see the frustration on his face, especially if you could read his lips play after play. Phil Costa got an earful.

Despite the obvious issues with the collective bargaining agreement, Jerry Jones’ choice for head coach is complicated. There MIGHT not be a 2011 season, but more concerning is the Tony Romo golden egg timeline. Say what you want about his charisma or leadership ability, Tony Romo is still the best all around quarterback to don a Cowboys uniform since Troy Aikman. And that means expectations are high.

Adios Senor Wade

This is an open letter to Mr. Wade Phillips

So Mr. Jones gave you your walking papers eh? Can’t say I blame him in-light-of-every-catastrophic-failure that has occurred this season.

In all honesty, he had to do something despite this season’s disastrous 1-7 start didn’t he? I mean last season the Cowboys made an exceptional post season appearance and whipped up on the hated Philadelphia Eagles and while doing so put to rest a couple of dreadful streaks:

1). the last time the Cowboys won a play-off game, those silly Rangers were all the rage

The Cowboys will be 0-3 after they go to Houston in week three and get skull thumped by the very good Houston Texans. It looks like this week’s answer to all the current woes of a shake-up for field goal kicking didn’t have the impact Jerry thought it would.

So what is next? Change the blue Gatorade to red? Discount the parking fee at the Death Star by 33%?

All kidding aside, I can get specific on all the areas where I see problems, but I don’t want to get caught up on the granular. Everything that is wrong with the Cowboys seems to easily fall into a few generalized categories and those have been in place for years, albeit some of them in revolving incarnations:

So the bush league & fragile Mavericks just lost to the championship caliber Spurs in game 6 of Round One in the NBA play-offs. Are we suprised?

nope.

Once again the Pop managed ‘long of tooth yet short of losing spirit’ Spurs bested the hapless Mavericks, despite an underwhelming regular season record against the Mavs.

As it turns out his resting of Duncan, 6th manning Parker et. al. seems to be effective for the post season. I look for them to advance beyond the next rounds and challenge the Lakers (jumping ahead yes) for the right to represent the West.

Earlier today, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com posited a scenario in which Jason Garrett could make a power play for Wade’s job. I’ve heard no one else in the traditional media talking about this possibility, but let’s look at it just in case.

From the Book of Dallas, the Story of Jones:
The reign of Jones in the Kingdom of Dallas has been filled with tales of many triumphs and tragedies, setbacks and successes. Those days have filled with periods of bounty and dominance, as well as sorrow and suffering. What follows is but a brief glimpse of those early days:

Earlier this morning, the Musers on 1310AM The Ticket brought up an interesting take on the Wade Phillips contract extension that warrants some credit. With a potential lock out by the league owners in 2011, Jerry Jones may well want to wait it out before changing head coaches again.

If Jerry extends Wade Philips’ contract for another year, he’s then positioned to go coachless into the 2011 non-season and avoid having to pay a coach for nothing.

When KRLD-FM asked Jerry Jones about Marion Barber’s role, he gave a very candid and (believe it or not) accurate response. According to ESPN.com, Jerry said,

I think the real question is, should he be finishing rather than beginning? In his Pro Bowl year, where he had his best year, [Barber was] finishing the game. If you recall, Julius Jones started the game. We injected the quickness of his speed there early.
