Don’t worry about Romo. Kitna is more reliable anyway.
Three quarters into Sunday’s game against San Fran, I knew what today’s post would cover:
This Wednesday, I will analyze the NFC East quarterbacks based on their opening weekend perfomances.
Stats gathered from Yahoo! Sports.
Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
What else needs to be said other than “Romo Being Romo?”
He’s lights out for 3 1/2 quarters but the 1/2 a quarter he was off, he was way off and it (mostly) cost the Cowboys a victory.
Romo finished the game 23-36 for 342 yards, 2 TDs and 1 (huge) INT for a QB rating of 101.9. In the 4th quarter alone, he fumbled inside the 5 yard line, threw into double coverage, resulting in the interception and fumbled a snap with less than 10 seconds remaining because he wasn’t ready to receive it from center.
That is the headline if all you had to go on was twitter. And if we know anything about the #cowboys fans over the era of Tony Romo its this, they love the Cowboys when they win, they hate TONY ROMO when they lose. Twitter is no different really except you get to see the wide range of emotions #cowboys fans go through in real time. Its kinda like what i think it would be in the mind of a schizophrenic. We live and die with every play our emotions run from happy to pissed in lighting speed and we’ll talk crap back to anyone who criticizes Romo, after all “That’s my quarterback” and only we can trash talk Romo. Love him or hate him at least he’s not Quincy Carter. #CHECKYOSELF
Sunday night was an emotional night in the Meadowlands. To be fair, it felt a bit like the Cowboys and their battered secondary/inexperienced offensive line were running into a buzz-saw. They were. If you listened to the local media today you’d think the Cowboys world as we know had ended. Just SO typical of Dallas media, but that’s for another day.
This is why you value Romo and Witten so much. They work together. They know what each other is doing. Romo’s athleticism buys him time when there’s pressure. Witten improvises and gives Tony a window of opportunity.

Check out the crew setting up for Romo’s wedding last weekend.
Despite the obvious issues with the collective bargaining agreement, Jerry Jones’ choice for head coach is complicated. There MIGHT not be a 2011 season, but more concerning is the Tony Romo golden egg timeline. Say what you want about his charisma or leadership ability, Tony Romo is still the best all around quarterback to don a Cowboys uniform since Troy Aikman. And that means expectations are high.
Apologies for the delay in this week’s edition, Cowboy fans. Saturday evening started with a celebration of Cowboys postseason success and then from Sunday to now I have been laughing at the expense of Southern Cal, rival to my Alma Mater, as Pete Carroll jumped ship, rumors of NCAA sanctions were around the bend, and then last night it climaxed as they hired Lane Kiffin out of nowhere. To say my research for this week’s edition has been slightly sidetracked with these recent developments is a gross understatement.
