The Cowboys finally had the official opening of the new stadium Sunday night and wouldn’t you know, those darn Giants just had to come in at the last second and spoil the party.

The good guys lost a tough one 33-31 Sunday night, but the running game was not to blame as The Three-Headed Monster plowed through the supposedly rugged Giants “D” for 228 of the 251 yards the Cowboys picked up on the ground.

Marion the Barbarian led the way with 18 carries for 124 yards and the first official touchdown scored at the JerryDome. That’s 6.9 yards per carry, exception against a defense the caliber of teh Giants. Barber also had 2 catches for 31 yards. He appeared to be on his way to a second touchdown when he grabbed his left thigh and fell in a heap to the turf. He hopes to play Monday night (see y’all there!) but is given a 50/50 shot to play.

Fast Felix got to show some of that speed on his way to a 7 carry, 96 yard performance, including a parting of the seas touchdown run that temporarily gave the Cowboys a late lead. Jones could’ve had another touchdown if he hadn’t gotten caught on a 56 yard run up the gut. Felix is also battling injuries, but should be good to go Monday night.

Tashard Choice got a couple of third-down carries on his way to a 2 carry, 8 yard performance with 1 catch for 3 yards. I’m hoping to see a little more of Choice and we may get it Monday night if Barber is stil hampered by his injury. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a little more Wildcat. Would add another dimension to this monster.

This week, the Cowboys host the Carolina Panthers Monday night at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. If you’re not able to join me out there, you can catch the game on ESPN at 7:30 p.m.
