No Felix? Umm, problem? The Cowboys went up to the Mile High City and once again lost a game on the final play, this time to the Broncos, 17-10.
This week, the Cowboys were without home-run threat Felix Jones, out with a knee injury. With Marion Barber returning from a quad injury, it was up to Tashard Choice to pick up the slack for the ground game. Early on, he appeared up to the task.
Choice finished the game with 14 carries for 33 yards and no touchdowns. His early success ripping off decent runs in the 1st quarter came to an end as the Broncos run defense stiffened up as the game progressed. In the end it was Choice getting most of the carries thanks to a bit of a communication error on the Cowboys sideline.
Barber came back from his qwuad injury with a vengeance, as he had 11 carries for 41 and a touchdown. Marion seemed to be more emontional than usual in this game, I don’t if it’s because he felt he needed to prove something or if he was just that excited to be back out there, but I like seeing that kind of fire out of him. Unfortunately, an stunning lack of communication of the Cowboys sideline limited Barber to just one carry in the 2nd half.
Apparently, Barber tweaked his quad and took himself out of the game. All the while, Wade Phillips had no idea anything was wrong with Barber but didn’t bother to check with anyone to see what the deal was. If this is true, it’s one of many reasons why I feel this entire organization needs an overhaul. But that’s another story for another day.
Next up for the Cowboys are the former Dallas Texans – the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs will be wearing throwback Texans uniforms for this game. I hope the Cowboys bring out the throwback unis for this as well (I think they should wear the throwbacks more often, personally). Let’s hope for a win here because I get the feeling major changes will be afoot if the Cowboys lose this one.
GO COWBOYS!!!
