Still no Felix? Almost a major problem, averted by the greatness of Miles Austin and his historic day. The Cowboys went up to Kansas City and beat the Chiefs (dressed as the former Dallas Texans) 26-20 in overtime. The Cowboys tried their best to give this game away, but were able to escape Arrowhead with the “W”.
Felix Jones was out again, still nursing a knee injury so the load in the backfield was once again carried by Marion Barber and Tashard Choice. Hopefully, Felix will be able to come back following the bye week. The team sure could use his big-play ability.
Marion Barber got the start again and finished the game with 15 carries for 53 yards. Barber started out well enough but it became obvious rather quickly that he is still favoring his quad that he injured a couple of weeks ago. He didn’t have the burst that he usually does and left a lot of yards on the field that he normally would pick up had he been healthy. We’ll see if the bye week does Marion good.
Tashard Choice is quickly becoming one of the team’s unsung heroes, turning in another solid performance Sunday. He had 8 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. Choice doesn’t have Felix’s speed and he’s not as physical as Marion, but he gets in there and gets the job done. He showed a nice burst of speed on his touchdown run and also an ability to make the tough runs when needed. Hopefully, his playing isn’t reduced too much once Marionand Felix are back to full strength.
The Cowboys face the mighty bye week this week. Let’s see if some of these nagging injuries heal up for various players and hope that no one gets in any kind of trouble.
