It’s back!!! The Three-Headed Monster was in full effect Sunday afternoon at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas’ 37-21 win over the Falcons. Ok, I don’t if “full effect” is really accurate, as the three combined for 84 yards on the ground on 22 attempts and 30 yards on 4 pass receptions. Atlanta’s defense did a good job of keeping the Monster in check, but you wonder how much of it has to with after effects from injuries and missed time.
Marion got the start and finished the day with 14 carries for 47 yards and 1 catch for 1 yard. He still doesn’t look like he has all of his normal burst. Maybe lessen Barber’s load and let Choice do some of the heavy lifting?
Let’s all welcome back Felix Jones! He got 8 carries for 37 yards and 2 catches for 6 yards. Felix had a couple plays that looked like he was a shoestring tackle away from breaking a long one. He also lost a fumble that fortunately didn’t turn into points for the Falcons.
Perhaps the biggest disappointment for me was the lack of use of Tashard Choice, who got no carries and caught a pass for 23 yards. You would think after the performances he put up the last couple of games that Tashard would get more burn than he did, but I guess not. He did have a nice block on a blitz pickup!
That’s another thing I wanted to mention from this game. Even though they didn’t get a lot of touches, the Monster did a great job of blocking in the backfield, allowing Tony Romo time to look downfield for open receivers. This offense is at its best when Tony has time to go through his progressions before attempting a pass.
One more thing: we saw the Three-Headed Monster on the field at the same time for the first time (I can remember) this season. I’m very curious to see where this goes the rest of the season (assuming they all stay healthy).
The Cowboys welcome back Julius Jones and the Seattle Seahawks for the first noon game at the Death Star this Sunday.
GO COWBOYS!!!

I'm not so sure how long this trio will last though… somewhere down the road a trade may come about that benefits Dallas the point where they have no choice but to give one of them up… most likely Marion, although I hope not.
I mentioned this very possibility in a post that will be published first thing in the morning. I'm not convinced that anyone needs to be traded. But there are plenty out there who do.
I just think it's sad that the very guy we championed just a few years ago has lost his lustre despite quality performance.
