ESPN.com reports that Tony Romo received a broken pinkie finger during the game yesterday against Arizona. He will be out for four weeks, during which Brad Johnson is likely to fill the role of starting quarterback for the team.
Unless Johnson pulls some magic out of his old hat, this could spell disaster for the playoff and Super Bowl hopes of this year’s team.
Romo’s injury explains why he couldn’t hit his target receivers in OT. Again, however, if he had significantly less control over the ball, Romo should have had the wisdom to tell Jason Garrett and get Brad Johnson in the game so the Cowboys could have had a chance to win.
Something is wrong with this Cowboys’ team, and has been since December of last year. Call it what you will, but this news does not improve their chances of getting it right.
Here’s hoping Brad Johnson has a little magic left under the hood.
